Authenticity & Condition Guide
How JoeDLC.com (JDLC Sports Pages) evaluates, photographs, and describes cards and collectibles to help buyers shop with confidence.
LAST UPDATEDDecember 30, 2025
Quick Standard: We aim to be clear, honest, and photo-forward. If you can see it in the photos, we try to mention it in the description.
1. Authenticity
We take authenticity seriously. Items are sourced through reputable channels and reviewed before listing.
- Graded cards: We list the grading company, grade, and certification/serial number when present.
- Raw cards: We inspect print, stock, edges, surface, and overall appearance for consistency with known authentic examples.
- Disclosure: If an item’s authenticity cannot be reasonably confirmed, we do not list it as authentic.
2. Condition Is Subjective (Especially for Raw Cards)
Condition is a matter of opinion unless a card is professionally graded. Our condition notes are a good-faith estimate based on visible characteristics.
- Raw condition ≠ guaranteed grade: A raw card described as “clean” or “near mint” is not a promise of a specific grade.
- Buyer review: Please review all photos carefully and ask questions before purchase.
3. What We Look At When Evaluating Condition
Surface
- Scratches, scuffs, dents, indents
- Print lines, roller marks, gloss wear
- Stains, discoloration, wax/pack residue
Corners & Edges
- Soft corners, whitening, edge chipping
- Fraying, bends, nicks, layer separation
- Factory rough cuts (varies by era/set)
Centering
- Front/back centering (left-right, top-bottom)
- Off-center cuts and print alignment
Creases & Bends
- Visible creases, wrinkles, pressure lines
- Minor bends that may appear only in light
4. Photos & Transparency
We prioritize clear photos so buyers can judge condition themselves.
- We photograph front/back and highlight notable flaws when possible.
- Lighting and angles can affect appearance; we avoid heavy editing.
- If you need additional photos, contact us and we will help when possible.
5. Common Terms You May See
- Raw: Not professionally graded; condition is subjective.
- Graded: Encapsulated and graded by a third-party grading company.
- “Clean” / “Nice”: Generally good eye appeal; not a guarantee of a grade.
- “As-Is”: Sold in current condition; see photos and description for details.
6. Questions Before Purchase
